Procedure
1
Dentin/Enamel
Bonding
- Isolate,
clean and prepare tooth. Place appropriate base/liner
in deep cavities, if desired.
- Etch
enamel and dentin with Etch-All
10% phosphoric acid gel for 20-30 seconds. Rinse completely.
Keep this surface clean. Avoid saliva contamination.
Apply air for one second to remove excess water, but
DO NOT DRY DENTIN. DenTASTIC
is designed to work best in the moist dentin environment.
- Mix
equal amounts of DenTASTIC
Adhesive Primer A+B and paint five coats on dentin
and enamel. Do not dry between coats.
After the last coat, dry with a gentle stream of air
for a few seconds. The surface should appear glossy;
if not, apply additional coats until glossy surface
appears.
- For
light cure restorations use Unfilled Resin
Base Part 1 only; for self-cure or dual cure
restorations mix equal amounts Base Part
1 + Catalyst Part 2. Paint a thin coat of Unfilled
Resin Bonding Agent over the glossy adhesive surface.
Thin this layer with a gentle stream of air. It is
not necessary to light cure this layer.
- Place
restorative composite or resin cement.

Procedure
2
Bonded
Porcelain Restorations and Porcelain Repairs
- For
porcelain repairs, remove loose porcelain and contour
as necessary. For all bonded porcelain restorations
and porcelain repairs, etch porcelain with Pulpdent
Porcelain Etch Gel for two minutes. Always place
rubber dam for intraoral use. Rinse well and dry.
- Apply
Pulpdent Silane
to porcelain surface and dry with
slow flow of clean air. Keep this surface
uncontaminated and dry. For bonded porcelain
restorations continue with step 3. For porcelain repairs
continue with step 4.
- When
bonding porcelain restorations to dentin/enamel,
prepare tooth, etch, wash, remove excess water, and
prime tooth with DenTASTIC
A + B following instructions for Dentin/Enamel
Bonding
in Procedure 1, steps 1-3.
- For
light cure restorations use Unfilled Resin
Part 1 only; for self-cure or dual cure restorations
mix equal amounts Parts 1 + 2. Paint a thin coat on
the silanated porcelain, and when bonding to dentin/enamel,
on glossy adhesive tooth surface also. Immediately
thin with a gentle stream of air. When bonding porcelain
veneers, inlays, onlays or crowns, do not
cure Unfilled Resin.
- For
porcelain repairs, place restorative composite.
For bonded porcelain restorations,
place resin cement on porcelain surface and carefully
seat on prepared tooth.

Procedure
3
Repair
of Porcelain Fractured From Metal Framework
- Remove
loose porcelain with diamond bur and bevel porcelain
edge. Sandblast or roughen metal surface. Wash and
dry metal.
- Mix
equal amounts of DenTASTIC
Adhesive Primer C + B and paint two coats on metal
and adjacent porcelain. Allow solvent to evaporate
for ten seconds before drying with a gentle stream
of air for 3-5 seconds.
- For
light cure restorations use Unfilled Resin
Base Part 1 only; for self-cure or dual cure
restorations mix equal amounts Base Part
1 + Catalyst Part 2. Paint a thin layer of Unfilled
Resin Bonding Agent over the adhesively prepared metal
and adjacent porcelain surface, and thin this layer
immediately with a gentle stream of air. It is not
necessary to light cure this layer. An opaquer may
be substituted for the unfilled Resin Bonding Agent,
if required.
- Place
restorative composite. Light cure, contour and polish.

Procedure
4
Bonding
to Precious and Non-Precious Metals and Porcelain Fusing
Alloys
- Sandblast
metal surface or roughen with diamond bur. Tin plate
sandblasted surface of high precious
alloys for superior results. Rinse
and dry.
- When
bonding metal to dentin/enamel, prepare
tooth, apply Etch-All
for 20-30 seconds, wash and remove excess water (do
not dry dentin), and prime tooth surface with DenTASTIC
Adhesive Primer A + B following instructions for Dentin/Enamel
Bonding in Procedure 1, steps 1-3.
- Mix
equal amounts of DenTASTIC
C + B. Paint two coats on metal surface. Let evaporate
for ten seconds, then dry 3-5 seconds with a gentle
stream of air.
- Mix
equal parts dual cure Unfilled Resin Base Part 1 +
Catalyst Part 2. Paint a thin layer on the adhesively
prepared metal. When bonding to dentin/enamel,
paint on the glossy tooth surface also. Thin immediately
with a gentle stream of air. An opaquer may be substituted
for the Unfilled Resin Bonding Agent, if required.
- When
bonding metal to dentin/enamel, apply
self-cure or dual cure resin cement to the unfilled
resin treated surface of the metal restoration; quickly
seat restoration, light cure to tack in place, and
finish. When bonding composite to metal,
place restorative composite, light cure and finish.

Procedure
5
Bonding
Composite to Existing Amalgam
- Sandblast
or roughen amalgam surface with diamond bur. Rinse
and dry completely.
- Mix
equal amounts of DenTASTIC
Adhesive Primer C + B and paint two coats on the amalgam
surface. Allow solvent to evaporate for ten seconds
before gently air drying for 3-5 seconds.
- For
light cure restorations use Unfilled Resin
Base Part 1 only; for self-cure or dual cure
restorations mix equal parts Base Part 1
+ Catalyst Part 2. Apply a thin layer of unfilled
Resin Bonding Agent over the adhesively prepared amalgam
surface, and immediately thin this layer with a gentle
stream of air. An opaquer may be substituted for the
Unfilled resin Bonding Agent, if required.
- Place
restorative composite. Light cure, contour and finish.

Procedure
6
Bonding
New Amalgam to Tooth Structure
- Prepare
the cavity conservatively. Prepare tooth, apply Etch-All
for 20-30 seconds, wash and remove excess water (do
not dry dentin), and prime tooth surface with DenTASTIC
Adhesive Primer A + B following instructions for Dentin/Enamel
Bonding in Procedure 1, steps 1-3.
- Begin
trituration of amalgam.
- Apply
a thin layer of self-cure or dual cure resin cement
over the glossy adhesive dentin and enamel surface.
DO NOT CURE THIS LAYER. Dual
cure Unfilled Resin Base Part 1 + Catalyst Part 2
may be used instead of resin cement. However, research
shows increased bond strengths with a partially filled
resin cement which intermingles better with the amalgam
and locks it into the tooth.
- Immediately
condense the amalgam over the resin cement allowing
excess cement to extrude from under the amalgam. Immediately
remove excess resin cement before it sets while carving
the amalgam to contour.

Procedure
7
Bonding
New Amalgam To Existing Amalgam
- Sandblast
or roughen amalgam surface with diamond bur. Rinse
and dry completely.
- Mix
equal amounts of DenTASTIC
Adhesive Primer C + B and paint two coats on the amalgam
surface. Allow solvent to evaporate for ten seconds
before air drying for 3-5 seconds.
- Begin
trituration of amalgam.
- Apply
a thin layer of self-cure or dual cure resin cement
over the adhesively prepared amalgam surface. DO
NOT CURE THIS LAYER.
- Immediately
condense the new amalgam over the resin cement allowing
excess to extrude from under the amalgam. Immediately
remove excess resin cement before it sets while carving
the amalgam to contour.
