Directions:
-
Thoroughly remove pellicle layer and clean enamel
surfaces with oil-free cleaning paste.
-
Rinse with copious amounts of water, removing all
residual paste from pits and fissures.
-
Isolate treatment area from salivary contamination
by placing cotton rolls and/or rubber dam and positioning
the patient to avoid pooling of saliva around the
treatment site. Dry thoroughly with uncontaminated,
oil-free and moisture-free compressed air. The air
line can be checked by blowing air onto the surface
of a dental mirror. If streaks of water or droplets
of oil appear, do not use the air line for sealant
purposes.
-
Apply Etch-Rite
38% phosphoric acid etch gel to the clean, dry treatment
site for 20 seconds. Rinse with copious amounts of
water. Do not disturb this surface.
-
Wet cotton rolls should be replaced by dry ones. Do
not contaminate etched teeth with saliva.
-
Dry etched surfaces with clean, uncontaminated compressed
air. Do not blow saliva onto etched surfaces. If etched
surfaces do not appear frosty or chalky white, repeat
steps 4-6.
-
A drying agent may be applied to etched surfaces at
this time. Do not disturb these surfaces. Salivary
contamination must be avoided at this critical point.
If saliva contamination occurs, wash and
dry surface, and etch again with Etch-Rite for 10
seconds. Wash and dry again and proceed.
-
Place applicator tip on Seal-Rite
syringe and carefully start flow of Seal-Rite. Use
a new applicator tip for each patient.
-
Apply Seal-Rite to the
pits and fissures. Flow the material from cusp to
cusp, but do not cover the marginal ridges. It is
better to apply too much than too little.
-
Light cure for at least 30 seconds, depending on the
light you are using.
-
Inspect the sealant surfaces. If coverage is incomplete,
apply more sealant. If tooth has been contaminated,
etch again for 10 seconds, wash, dry and then place
additional sealant.
-
Check occlusion and adjust as required.
