Why Hygienists Trust Pulpdent

As hygienists, we often hear patients say they have “soft teeth” and expect to have cavities at their routine cleaning appointments. More likely than not, the issue is diet, education, and patient behavior.

Our mission is disease prevention. We identify risk factors and educate our patients about the causes of tooth decay and gum disease, and the preventive actions they can take.

There is a growing arsenal of prevention materials. As a patient, it is important to understand if the products your dental provider uses help prevent decay and disease.

I have learned that not all dental products are created equal and that these differences are a result of technological advances and the dental manufacturer’s prevention philosophy.

Prevention Philosophy

“One of my responsibilities is to create an environment that is favorable for the natural healing process.”

Harold Berk, DDS, DSc, founder, Pulpdent Corporation

Choosing products that align with the natural components of our enamel is essential in the prevention of tooth decay. Teeth are made of calcium and phosphate, and materials that incorporate these essential minerals help to replenish and protect tooth structure. The addition of fluoride makes teeth more acid-resistant. Pulpdent prevention products contain calcium, phosphate and fluoride and help promote long term oral health.

Products That Make a Difference

Embrace Varnish
Not all fluorides are the same. Understanding the products being placed on your or your children’s teeth is important. Pulpdent’s Embrace™ Varnish releases calcium, phosphate, and 10 times more fluoride than the leading varnish in 4 hours. This helps restore minerals to teeth that have been weakened by dietary sugars.

Embrace WetBond Pit & Fissure Sealant
The natural anatomy and deep grooves on the chewing surfaces of our teeth trap bacteria and lead to tooth decay. Sealants act as a protective coating that seals these grooves. Unlike other dental sealants, Embrace WetBond Pit & Fissure Sealant is moisture-friendly, making it much easier to place on children. The material also offers unique sealing properties that prevent it from flaking off, increase longevity, and provide greater protection against tooth decay.

5% Sodium Fluoride with CXP™

CXP™ = Xylitol-coated Calcium and Phosphate for unsurpassed fluoride release

Fills superficial, non-carious enamel lesions

By incorporating xylitol-coated calcium and phosphate in a permeable resin matrix that does not separate, Pulpdent has developed a sustained time-release varnish with uniform dosage that delivers 10 times more fluoride than the leading varnish brand. The pleasing taste ensures patient compliance.

There’s more to Embrace than fluoride release
  • Pleasing taste ensures patient compliance
  • Contains bioavailable calcium, phosphate and fluoride
  • Does not separate – no mixing required
  • Ensures predictable, uniform dose
Bioavailable Fluoride, Calcium and Phosphate with Xylitol

Embrace Varnish also releases bioavailable calcium and phosphate ions, the essential building blocks of teeth. The xylitol coating prevents the calcium and phosphate salts from reacting until they come in contact with saliva. Saliva dissolves the xylitol and releases the calcium and phosphate ions, which react with the fluoride ions in saliva to form protective fluorapatite on the teeth.

Available in unit dose with or without brushes, and also in tubes

Contains No Bisphenol A, No Bis-GMA, No BPA Derivatives

“It’s an absolutely sensational product!” – John D. Doykos III, DMD, MSD
“Virtually undetectable margins” – Dental Advisor 2004; 21(8)
“Bonds under adverse conditions.” – Reality 2006
“[Sealants] looked the same as they did the day we placed them.” – RDH 2006;26(7)

Embrace is the first pit and fissure sealant that bonds to the moist tooth. Research shows remarkable sealing ability and adaptation to tooth structure.1 The margins are undetectable, and the long-term success has been reported in the literature.2,3 Embrace releases and recharges phosphate and fluoride, and it has longer lasting antibacterial activity compared to other leading brands, especially against S. mutans.4,5

Moisture Tolerant – Bonds in a moist field

  • Wet-bonding resin technology
  • Tooth integrating. Seals against microleakage
  • Margin-free. No chipping. No staining
  • Fewer steps. Saves time and money
  • No drying or bonding agents required
  • Available in off-white or natural shade

Exceptional Marginal Adaptation

Embrace resins form an intimate association with the moist tooth. They are tooth integrating, creating a margin-free interface between the resin and the tooth that eliminates microleakage.

Fig 2 SEM shows leading competitor’s traditional pit and fissure sealant without bonding agent. Note the large gap between the sealant and the tooth.
